“Every day, environmental issues become more and more important. This is why we believe it is essential to not simply adapt to the times, but to be proactive in order to ensure that the company’s edge is solid and long-lasting.
The world is undergoing a series of irreversible changes that demand a long-term vision if they are not to become traumatic.”
Adolfo Guzzini, President Emeritus
QO Hotel, Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Energy savings and circularity: the architectural design for the QO Hotel in Amsterdam, created in collaboration with the Paul de Ruiter Architects and Mulderblauw Architecten studios, is an excellent example of environmental sustainability.
The building is made up of a compact core of logistical structures surrounded by accommodation areas that are strategically positioned so they receive as much daylight as possible. Every room can also be ventilated naturally. The façade is dynamic and changes according to guest presence in the bedroom, weather and the time of day and period of the year. The hotel uses geothermal energy for heating and a grey water system where the waste water from the showers is filtered and reused for drainage. The all-LED lighting system also helps the building save energy.
